Mineral Foundation Tricks & Application Tips

We get very few complaints if any, about our gorgeous cosmetics, but we do get emails from ladies wondering the best way to achieve that flawless look with their minerals so here are some tips to help:

The best way to test for the right colour is to apply the mineral foundation along your jaw line in natural daylight, or apply on your décolletage as this area gets touched by the sun and will match your seasonal skin tone.

TIP, TAP, SWIRL, BRUSH

Open the pot of mineral foundation, place kabuki or vegan face brush in the top of the pot, tip upside down, tap the bottom of the container gently to release the minerals, reposition the pot up the correct way tap of the excess and swirl the brush in the lid, then apply to the face, its that easy.

Apply to your face starting at a central point i.e. cheeks, working towards the outside of your face, in a downwards swirling circle motion. Keep adding layers until the desired coverage is achieved this is usually two layers at most. Final layer should be in a downwards motion to settle the fine hairs on your face.

If you are going to apply your loose mineral foundation to bare skin it may help to mist your face with a floral water toner or if you like you can moisturize prior to applying your mineral foundation powder, that being said allow 5 minutes for your skin to dry, before applying the powder to the skin.  Blotchy looks occur if the minerals have been applied before allowing the moisturizer to be absorbed, so best to blot any excess away. When applying the powder or liquid always blend outwards in on a downwards angle, again starting from the inner circle of your face.

Apply less to the areas on your face that have fine lines such as around the mouth. The natural oils that your skin produces, tend to encourage foundation to migrate to these areas ….so less is best in wrinkle zones.

Tip: If you have oily skin: Apply setting powder before applying the mineral foundation, then again after the foundation application, the setting powder will help to absorb the oils produced by the skin.

Tip: To “pull” the center of the face out and give more definition to the overall look, use a light  foundation base in the aesthetic triangle and a darker one on the perimeter to provide a subtle highlight and to create that flawless  beauty seen in magazines!

Multi Purpose Micas (Eye shadows)

To create a liquid liner:  Tap a small amount of mica into the lid of the container, dip your fine liner into water then dip the fine liner into the desired color already in the lid. Mix the powder and water together on the back of your hand or in a separate container to create a creamy liquid liner. Dip the eyeliner brush into the liquid and carefully apply to the upper and/or lower lids, staying as close to the lashes as possible.

To use as an eye shadow: Simply dip your shadow brush into the desired color and apply to your eyelids. Choose a lighter color as a highlighter to apply under the brow. Use a darker color in the crease to shade the area.

To create a nail polish:  Using a good quality clear nail polish, dip a loaded brush in the cap containing loose powder and polish onto nails.

Lip Service

Luscious Full Lips: Beginning in the middle of your upper lip with a sharp pencil, draw just above your lips natural line, apply a light shade of lip colour to the centre of your lips , for depth first apply a dark shade then the light one, lastly glosses and shiny lipsticks give the impression of full big lips…so on the bottom lip only add a smear of gloss…
